A&E Biography: Andre the Giant

EX Biography recounts the life of Andre Rene Roussimoff, a poor farm boy from Molien, France, who grew up to become the most famous professional wrestler in the world. His enormous size and athletic ability made him an awesome presence in the sport. At his prime he stood seven feet five inches and weighed four hundred and fifty pounds. He had been stricken with an endocrinological disorder that produces continual growth and shortens life span. During the 1970s and half of the '80s, Andre transcended the sport, became an actor and celebrity and was perhaps, next to Muhammad Ali, the most recognized athlete on the planet.
